Impromptu Day of Fun
Sometimes the most fun days we have to gather are those that start off unplanned. Today was one of those days. As I watched Sadie eat her many waffles and watch Sesame Street while wrapped up in her pink princess blanket, it was tempting to think just laying on the couch all day would be divine. After all, I am a little over five months pregnant and starting to feel the weight of the baby as of recent. However, thanks to a very necessary errand to retrieve some medical records, we sprung into action and headed out the door after I packed a light lunch. We decided after running our medical records errands, we would have a picnic. Sadie and I had so much fun just pressing the buttons on all the elevators we road and looking for a car. We finished our errands quickly and efficiently and we're thrilled to head over to the zoo for parking. We rode the train to the third stop off of Cambridge. There we exited the train and went in search of a perfect picnic spot. Sadie walked in the grass looking around and kept telling me it's a beautiful day. It really was. The high is around 80, which is amazing for Houston, and we found a great spot by a giant turtle climber. We dined on peanut butter sandwiches, grapes, chips, applesauce, juice, and I surprised her with a ghost and pumpkin people. She was so excited. We also had to combat the squirrels who kept trying to eat all of our food. First lady thought they were cute, but when they got a little too close she shook the blanket and scream and startle them for at least another minute or two. We've been played for about 20 or 30 minutes – swinging and enjoying the playground equipment. We decided that instead of staying longer we would catch the next train back to the zoo to have a special treat of dipping dots. On the way back, Sadie noticed several men and women sleeping on the tables under the pavilion. She innocently inquired as to why they would be sleeping there and I had to explain to her that not everyone has a nice house or mommy or daddy who cooks food for them and takes care of them. She was shocked at this news and said immediately that we needed to building a house. She kept telling me we need to call poppy and daddy and tell them to build them a house made of brick or maybe made of wood. It was so sweet to see their plight through the eyes of a child. It is upsetting and it is sad and we should want to help. I love her heart and I pray that she keeps wanting to help she grows into a young woman. After a dipping dots and I walk through the zoo we headed home. What a special treat to spend the whole day with one of my favorite people on this planet.

Our First Attempt at a Galveston Weekend
We ended up going home so mom could take care of sweet Aunt Margie who was struggling with her health, but we enjoyed a sweet day together on Galveston before a bit of sorrow. Some precious pictures from our trip.
