Hollyn's 4 Month Checkup

Hollyn did beautiful for her four-month checkup. She was due for her vaccines (3 this time). Lindsey, our favorite nurse tech was on the clock and made mama, grandma, and big sister feel so special. Hollyn weighed 14.5 pounds. She is growing beautifully!

Sadie had just come from dance she was clad in her ballerina attire. She was rather not worried about the vaccines, that was brave for her sister. This appointment was extra special because great came along. What are unique blessing to have an intergenerational family circle of support for such a tiny life!

I almost did not want to include a picture of her crying again he captured during vaccines. But, it shows how hard it is for mom to watch at these appointments. She was so brave. Holland did not even cry for the first one, but the second one is known to sting a bit more, so she tuned up for that one.
Then, clad with Tweety Bird stickers on her legs, a sticker on her chest, and hand in her mouth we happily left the office and have a light nice to month reprieve before our next scheduled vaccines. :-)

We celebrated her success by coming home and playing and Sadie's inflatable pool. Then we found Sadie's Dolley that. We setter in it in her diaper and she seemed to really enjoy the water lapping up on her little legs. And nice distraction from her soreness!

Adventures in Babywearing

When Sadie was little, I attempted to wear her. We had a version of a moby wrap and a narrow-based Eddi Bauer carrier. Now that I am more educated on how to wear my little one, I shudder to think I kept putting Sadie in the narrow based one, facing out. But you know what? It introduced me to wearing and I'm so glad for that. 😊
I have a dear friend, Stephanie, is is not only a master baby wear-er, but the head of a local babywearing group and even has her own loom!!! She graciously had me over one day and showed me how to get Hollyn up in a wrap. I was in love. She continued in this awesome manner by generously letting me borrow a lovely wrap. Natibaby, size 6, cogs. I was afraid to use it in the morning as Hollyn was having some lovely diapers, but many did I start to fall in love. I got online, researched a variety and bought my first wrap, a Girasol, Earthy Rainbow, diamond weave, size 6. Then I felt obsessed...I was an official baby-wearer. 😀

My stash has grown a but and I now have the following at the moment (after a brief moment I did have a Didy Indio, Penelope, but sold it on the swap due to funky black rails. The green is Girasol, size 5, Mystic Forest

And then there's Girasol, size 5, snow orchid, diamond weave.

And Sadie's make-shift wrap out of a scarf...
And Sadie's fabulous SSC (soft structured carrier), a Boba.

I have also added a teracotta Didy Indio and a magnet Bali Breeze.

I think it's safe to say, I'm obsessed. :)

Our New Fence

We have been dreaming about having a fence in the backyard since moving into the house. James woke up one Saturday and decided "today is the day!" He worked a couple of days with a few family interruptions, but the wait was well worth it! It is beautiful and will keep kids and dogs alike all in the backyard for years to come! Great job, Daddy!

Hollyn's First Swim

Today Sadie decided it was high time to purchase a little pool for the summer months. Although I tried to persuade her, she was bent on more of a splash pad of sorts, quite obviously geared to a younger crowd than Sadie. It didn't impede her joy! She was so excited to "swim" with Hollyn and aside from a couple of poolside ants that have her a scare, Sadie really enjoyed it. Hollyn got in for a bit, but it was a wee bit cold. However, she seemed thrilled and captivated by Sadie as she sat on the edge of my lap, watching big sister's every move. :)

Sister Selfies

The trend of taking "selfies" right now has  almost become hilarious and seemingly trite, but as the case with anything, somehow when something is done by tiny humans, it's immediately cuter. Case in point: sister selfies by Sadie. LOVE these because clearly Hollyn is over it in about 3 seconds. ;)

Auntie Jordan & Uncle Ryan Meet Hollyn

I heard someone tell me long ago that when you meet someone you have only a  few seconds to make a first impression. Yet, I am still overjoyed by how incredibly sweet it is to watch an Aunt and Uncle meet their niece for the first time. Ryan and Jordan couldn't be at the hospital because they are in Ft. Worth, but they came down afterwards to meet little Hollyn. Sadie was so excited to play with them and show off her little sister and I think the first few seconds (captured thanks to iPhone) turned out to leave quite an impression.

We all enjoyed visiting and even watching a movie together (Thor), as Uncle Ryan provided commentary and Susu sat next to Sadie as she enjoyed her own special movie.
We even went on a fabulous walk around the block with Hollyn. Although, not compeltely convinced by the power and magic possessed by the car seat, she promptly fussed all the way home.

Saying goodbye is always so hard. Long ago we thought maybe we could live close one day, but God has made such a beautiful life for them in Ft. Worth filled with more than just the amazing jobs they enjoy. They have friends and family and so we are just thrilled for them and so thankful for any time we get to spend together we we are blessed enough to do so.
