Granddaddy's Ducks

It has been several months since Sadie has visited Granddaddy's office. Although Dr. Birkman wasn't in to see Sadie on this day, the visit was still very special. Granddaddy was ready and waiting to show Sadie off, eat lunch, then feed some ducks! Sadie wore her pink fancy squeaky shoes and they were a hit. You could hear her walking down the hallway and all over the office with two squeaks accompanying each little step - although she most preferred being held by Granddaddy in this new surrounding.

Sadie's new friend, Pauline, gave her some cool Birkman toys!
After saying hello to everyone we walked over to the Galleria through Nordstrom's. We arrived at La Madeline for lunch as Sadie admired the baked bread. Mmmmmmm... Sadie had a packed lunch, but really enjoyed eating Mommy's pasta salad and even had some vegetable soup too! Granddaddy had his favorite, the tomato basil soup. Delicious!

After lunch, we strolled over to the little pond area outside Granddaddy's office. We came armed with a whole loaf of bread. It was quite a different experience than Sadie's last visit to the ducks - she wasn't even walking last visit! We immediately started breaking of bread crumbs and tossing them to the fine-feathered friends and Sadie was sorely confused. She couldn't understand why Granddaddy and Mommy were throwing perfectly good bread on the ground. She kept exclaiming, "Uh oh!" then proceeded to pick up various pieces and eat them. She probably ingested at least half a slice of bread with this method!

Granddaddy finally squatted down and showed Sadie how he was throwing it and she mimicked him a couple of times and then grew concerned for the recently departed bread and started picking up the pieces again to eat. Hilarious. :)
Learning from Granddaddy how to feed ducks!
Then, of course, Sadie grew brave and began to chase them. Thankfully, for the ducks, they were given fair warning as she was still clad with squeaky shoes giving away her every move.

Big loaf for a little girl!
Sadie played outside until almost all our bread was gone and the ducks even began to look full. We then said goodbye to Granddaddy as he went back to work and we jumped in our car. Sadie was out withing 10 minutes of getting on the freeway. A splendid afternoon with Granddaddy and his ducks.
