Hollyn's Maiden Trip to Galveston

Aside from some land just norh of Houston in Leona, TX, Galveston is probably one of the most special places on this earth for me and my family. Even for my little family of four, it holds great significance. I met James at The Pelican Club. He proposed in a little airplane over the island, and we were married in Galveston's First Baptist Church on 23rd street. Lots of love for this little island. So you can imagine my excitement when we  took Hollyn for her first trip to Galveston. We went straight to Mod Coffee shop for a cup of afternoon joe. I regularly order the Holly, names after the owner, a sprightly little thing in her early fifties with salt and pepper short pigtails sitting at her neck. The outside is so beatiful and smells amazing this time of year with the Star Jasmine climbing up the side. Hollyn even enjoyed the ambiance as we changed her diaper right on the table. :)

The deal was if Sadie was patient for coffee then we could go to La King's for gummies. So we headed there next! She picked out gummy frogs, big ones and little ones (mamas and babies as she will tell you). We also thought of Daddy and bought him some sour strawberry belts.
After that, Hollyn fell asleep from all the excitement and we headed to the Jewel Garden, where SuSu found some precious mixed metal swinging circle earrings. One of the workers, owners, managers who is alway present has a flair for fashion and strawberry red hair. He was instantly in love wih Hollyn's hair, of course. And Norma (a lady in her late 60's) who works there was so kind and gentle with Sadie. One of my all-time favorite shops on the strand.
Next we found a sweet gift for Great in Tina's, then headed to Jammin' sportswear for some fun with Sadie. She found just about everything pink she could get her hands on and modeled it for us.
Then there were the fabulous smiles we got out of Hollyn while waiting on Gammy outside of Tina's. She was freshly nursed and happy as a little Galveston clam.

Meanwhile Sadie decided to act out how tired her legs felt. This lasted only until we asked her if she was ready to head to Gracie's to pick out a charm - Gammy's treat. She popped right up and kept on walking. She also saw some sweet dolls in the store she loved, and was so amazing when we needed to leave. She didn't complain and helped put them up so we could head out.
Then once we were all safely squished back in the car, we got a few more sweet faces as Hollyn blew bubbles in the back seat - her latest baby trick. :)
