All holidays have started becoming super fun since Sadie is old enough to really enjoy all the trappings. This Easter was no exception. After getting dressed up in her Sunday best for church (Thank you, Gammy for a beautiful white eyelet lace dress with light blue bow), she knelt down to her Easter basket to discover all her goodies. As I am not keen on loading up my Ezekiel bread-eating toddler on chocolate bunnies and jelly beans, there was not a single food item in the basket.
Instead, she was thrilled to find:
Abby, Elmo, Oscar, and Cookie Monster socks
two new bows
a book on dogs
a sparkly pair of pink shoes
a Sesame St. coloring book
an Abby plate and matching cup
Sesame St. stickers
Of all the goodies, Sadie probably was most excited about her new socks!
We then went outside to take a few quick pictures before heading to church. Although Mommy was too late to play in the orchestra, it was totally worth it to get these adorable pictures of Sadie, Mommy, and Daddy! Sadie really enjoyed taking pictures with the sweet present Leslie gave her. She used 27 yards of light green tulle, some styrafoam, and an upcyclced Clorox bottle to make a beautiful little Easter bunny basket for Sadie - packed with little eggs and goodies inside! She had given it to Sadie earlier when we all attended the UBC Annual Egg Hunt.
Sadie was also sweet enough to put the bunny down for a second and get a few pictures without him. Her poses, as of late, have been hilarious. The over turned head to one side or the other as she smiles and utters "CHEEEEEESE" through clamped teeth is enough to make smiles erupt on those watching her photo shoot. Too cute.
Mommy and Daddy got in a few shots too and we were so happy to have some nice pictures. The funny thing is that although I look at these pictures and remember a great Easter, I can't help but want to warn my silly self not to play in poison ivy. I am most certain that white shirt of mine (Mommy's) was thrown in the trash as just hours after taking these pictures I foolishly gardened with our friend Katie Leestma and will forever remember that afternoon as the "Easter we got poison ivy." But that's another blog post altogether!
After nap time, Sadie went to visit Su Su, who was still recovering from foot surgery and could therefore not attend church this Easter. Su Su was so happy to see Sadie and Sadie was elated to open her present from Su Su and Poppy! She got the Snow White DVD! She also got some bubbles, and a pink bunny cookie to enjoy!
